WELCOME TO MY BLOG!
Aloha,
What started out as a 10th grade school project for biology class has turned into a career that has allowed John to travel the world and make a living doing something he loves. As a graduate of the famous Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., John has a delicate focus and understanding of light and how it can flatter a subject. Initially starting his career doing Commercial /Advertising assignments, John later moved into Weddings and Family Portraits. When asked what he is most passionate about he simply said, “My passion and desire is to make people look their best while allowing them to be themselves. My career in photography has given me the opportunity to meet people of all walks of life and have so many memorable experiences. We are all so different, yet so much the same!”
Westin Maui Wedding Photography
Aloha to all … we have had a fun, busy, and hot summer this year. Maui has been very lucky in that many of the predicted storms have tracked away from our island leaving us with awesome sunsets. This featured wedding was held at the beach side lawn of the Westin Maui Resort. It was a grand gathering of family and friends on a gorgeous Maui afternoon. Skies on Fire-Maui Photographer
Aloha,
Back in the day of using Hasseblads to photograph weddings, portraits, and all I use to use a “graduated filter” to pull my skies down to make them look dramatic. Now days Photoshop can make these dramatic corrections, but there is always a trade off. Why do I bother to bring this up… well the other day I was reading an article on the use of graduated filters when capturing digital images. Inspired, I decide to dig thru my old gear and adapt an old trusted filter to my current gear. Weather wise, Maui has had a few near misses of major storms this summer (two more on the way they say) which have blessed us with some amazing sunsets. This was the other evenings sunset which lasted about 30 minutes. I hope you enjoy images:
Mike, Ashley & Leo
Yes, it’s true I have been a bit remiss on my blog posts this summer. So much to do and so little time in the day… This is a really great family that was recently married on the beach fronting the Kea Lani Resort. Little Leo stole the show from mom and dad as he looked so dapper in his hat. We had gerogus evening weather, great waves, and a magical Maui sunset. Enjoy this selection of images from their wedding on Maui.
Froman Maui Family Portrait
Maui Portraits are always fun and your family and friends will be so excited to see them. We have had lovely weather this spring and the Froman families session was no exception. The kids really liked incorporating one of my surfboards into their personal images too! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their many images, and drop me a note if you care to book as session.
Josh & Elise- Ritz-Carlton Maui Wedding-Part II
Yup… I had to split it up and this is only a small taste … It is so hard to pick only a few from Josh & Elise’s Maui Wedding. So many great photographs. Enjoy and Aloha,
John
