WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

Aloha,
What started out as a 10th grade school project for biology class has turned into a career that has allowed John to travel the world and make a living doing something he loves. As a graduate of the famous Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., John has a delicate focus and understanding of light and how it can flatter a subject. Initially starting his career doing Commercial /Advertising assignments, John later moved into Weddings and Family Portraits. When asked what he is most passionate about he simply said, “My passion and desire is to make people look their best while allowing them to be themselves. My career in photography has given me the opportunity to meet people of all walks of life and have so many memorable experiences. We are all so different, yet so much the same!”

Boyce & Catherine’s Maui Sailboat Wedding

Aloha to everyone.  I recently had a fantastic time photographing a wedding for Boyce & Catherine on the Scotch Mist Sailboat. Hailing from Colorado they were two of the nicest and interesting people to have photographed.  It was a very relaxed evening for all, and the winds and sky were perfect for their Maui wedding.   There was plenty of champagne, music, and beautiful scenery throughout our sail .  Many Mahalo’s to our couple,  A Dream Wedding Maui Style, Capt. Jean, and Tim O”Hare and as you can see we had fun and the evening did sing.

Maryanne & Chris’s Maui Wedding

Aloha,

Now that summer is here so are the sunsets … Maryanne and Chris snuck away from family and friends in Australia to tie their nuptials here on Maui.  Chris later told me that they were all so thrilled with the pictures that they felt like they were there after all.  Below are a few select images from their magical evening.

Day Off…Well Deserved

Ok … this week was busy for me: three major events to photograph plus working on 3 album designs as well as a large print order from a recent family sitting.  I had yesterday off, so to speak, with no photo assignments.  I must say that I truly  believe that there are no coincidences in life- so while jamming on my work something inside told me to stop working and go look outside.  The amazing sunset below was what I was treated too!   I am sure last night there were many Happy Maui couples that were mesmerized by the colors as it just kept on going and going.  Then this morning, just after getting up while having my morning cup of coffee I noticed the inter island canoe race taking off for Molokai.  Just then this awesome rainbow was blown over the mountains by the trades!  Good luck everyone as the channel is rough today.  I am truly thankful to have such an awesome job that helps me to see so many beautiful things!  Enjoy your day and Aloha-

Chloe’s Sr. Portrait

Aloha,

My good friend and surfing buddy recently called me and asked if I’d do his daughters Senior Class Portrait.  I was happy to help out and we went to a nearby beach that has great backgrounds.  Nothing like an “Outdoor” portrait to set yourself apart.  The weather was perfect and we really had fun trying all sorts of ideas. Enjoy this selection of amazing images.
