WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

Aloha,
What started out as a 10th grade school project for biology class has turned into a career that has allowed John to travel the world and make a living doing something he loves. As a graduate of the famous Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., John has a delicate focus and understanding of light and how it can flatter a subject. Initially starting his career doing Commercial /Advertising assignments, John later moved into Weddings and Family Portraits. When asked what he is most passionate about he simply said, “My passion and desire is to make people look their best while allowing them to be themselves. My career in photography has given me the opportunity to meet people of all walks of life and have so many memorable experiences. We are all so different, yet so much the same!”

Westin Maui Wedding Photography … Love on an Island

Aloha everyone out there…especially those who are looking for a Maui Wedding Photographer.  Pamela & Robert recently tied the knot at one of Kaanapali’s best resorts- Westin Maui Resort & Spa.  It was a beautiful afternoon and a very cheerful group of people from New Mexico.  Below is a small taste of their wedding as well as a few of them enjoying their day.  Enjoy and Happy March to all!molina_0281molina_0008molina_0016molina_0035molina_0189molina_0220molina_0227molina_0248

Love is Everywhere-Sunrise Haleakala

Love this image (yes, I added in the moon).  Notice the couple in the middle gazing lovingly into each others eyes while waiting to see the sunrise.  I wonder if he is proposing?  It’s always so quite and peaceful on the summit which really helps you understand the love the Hawaiians feel for this land.  If you decide to go experience as sunrise remember it’s going to be around 30 degrees up there (10,000 ft elevation) that early in the day!Sunrise Haleakala_blog

Matt & Dalila’s Maui Portrait

Aloha,

Matt & Dalila were recently on Maui to both Celebrate their recent Engagement as well as get some creative & fun pictures for their “Save This Date” announcement.   We went to one of my favorite beaches where the weather was perfect that night.   As they were new to what a photo session involved I made suggestions and helped them choreograph both playful and loving interactions on the beach.   Once the session was over it was great to hear how much fun they had had, and that they wished I would come to New York and cover their wedding!  What a great compliment!!  Below, I have selected a few images of showing the relaxed time we all had together.  Enjoy and Aloha-

John

Cool Atlanta

Aloha,

I recently took the time to further expand my photographic ideas plus techniques, and made the trek back to Atlanta Georgia for the 2016 Imaging USA PPA Convention.   First I must say it was cold! and boy was I not prepared for the cold (my weather app said would be in the 60″s).  I had brought cloth accordingly, and unfortunately it hovered around 40 the whole time.  Lucky, all the classes were held indoors at a great convention center in the Downtown district.  It was awesome as there were so many photographers from all around the country and plenty of fantastic speakers.  The one thing that happened that really let me know how blessed I am is that during one of the classes on business the speaker asked the class (about 150 people) to show by standing how many photographer had been in business over 5 years.  It was great to see well over half the class stand up.  Next she said “how about over 10 years” and about half sat down.  Then she said “over 15 years” and that left only a handful of us standing.  It really hit me at that moment – I have been so blessed to have been in business on Maui all these years, getting paid to be around happy people and to watch sunsets.  These are a few snaps of people, places, and friends:

Maui Wedding Vow Renewals

Happy Holiday’s everyone and I hope you all had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving.  Yes, I did too!  I got to go surf great waves at Maui’s Honolua Bay which is one of the best waves on the planet.  Recently, I have been shooting a number of wedding vow renewals and just wanted to share some of their love with you.  It’s so pleasing to see couples enjoying their time together plus listening to their stories of years gone by.  Below are some of my favorite moments from two events at different location.
