WELCOME TO MY BLOG!
Aloha,
What started out as a 10th grade school project for biology class has turned into a career that has allowed John to travel the world and make a living doing something he loves. As a graduate of the famous Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., John has a delicate focus and understanding of light and how it can flatter a subject. Initially starting his career doing Commercial /Advertising assignments, John later moved into Weddings and Family Portraits. When asked what he is most passionate about he simply said, “My passion and desire is to make people look their best while allowing them to be themselves. My career in photography has given me the opportunity to meet people of all walks of life and have so many memorable experiences. We are all so different, yet so much the same!”
Hathaway/DeRoshia Wedding Sunset Image
Amazing sunset from this past Saturdays beach wedding at Pacific”O”s restaurant. Could not have ordered a better one if I tried. Betsy & Jeff has a a massive turn out of support as many of their closest friends flew in to support them, and what a fun party they had!
Maldives Surf Trip 2016
Aloha and Mahalo for checking me out,
I was finally able to take another surf trip this past September with my best mates from Maui, New Zealand, and Australia! My daughter (she’s so awesome…I know all dads say that) recently graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene with a BS Degree in Public Relations. She then landed a fantastic internship position at Edelman Communications & Marketing Firms Portland office. Why am I telling you this? I now have no more “out of state college tuition” to cover so I get to go surfing 🙂 . We stayed at “Pasta Point” in the Maldives which is about a hours fast boat ride from Male which is the capitol city and airport. It has a first class left reef point break, that is exclusive to that atoll, and 3 other world class breaks within a 15 minute boat ride. My friends and I had an amazing trip with great surf every day and it was so relaxing staying on this small island atoll. Thanks to poor cell service and slow internet speeds we had a total disconnect from our usual worlds. Here are some images from the surfing part of our trip. We also spent some time in Singapore and I’ll post pix from that extraordinary city in another blog. The first two are of me surfing:
Relaxing in the morning getting ready to head outCool shoot by Dara of me paddling back out after catching a wave. The ocean is so full of life there.
Our resting place.
The steps that lead out to the reef access point.Way Cool!!
Lots of weather down there which made for some really moody light and cool moments.
My Maldivian mates Ashley (owns the surf camp), Mikie, and Dara.Surf and relax … doesn’t get any better! If you are here with family it has a great beach too.
Overview of Pasta Point left.More pix of the cool clouds and when it rained it poured!!Some of the crew chilling in the evening before dinner.Aloha
Wave Sunset in Kaanapali
Aloha, and what a beautiful sunset we had last night. I took a break from my office work just in time to see this sunset from the lanai. The dramatic cloud reminded me of a wave with the white water washed in red tones. Great way to end Tuesday.

Klemm Maui Family Gathering
Aloha Everyone … It’s another beautiful day in paradise. The Klemm families were recently here on Maui from California. To say the least, we had a fun filled morning of family pictures. Alden’s dad was in charge of entertainment and managed to keep Emma, his granddaughter, at her best. Enjoy this selection of images …
Happy Easter from Maui
Love and Aloha from your favorite Maui Photographer…
